Watch a $500,000 McLaren crash on the wet Spa track

Watch a $500,000 McLaren crash on the wet Spa track McLaren's first development outing in the $500,000 MP4-12C GT3 at the Spa 24 Hours proved a mixed bag. The number 59 car of Andrew Kirkaldy, Alvaro Parente and Oliver Turvey, quickest in pre-qualifying, hit a wall at turn one, after just two laps.

Kirkaldy, who was at the wheel, was declared uninjured after a precautionary hospital visit. Of the other two MP4-12C GT3's in the race, one DNFed due to a "thermal incident" (fire! — just a small one) and the other taking 25th overall.

McLaren GT is continuing its development season later this year at Blancpain Endurance Series races at Magny-Cours and Silverstone, before delivering 20 MP4-12C GT3 cars to private teams for the 2012 GT racing season.
