The scale creations on display at the Military Miniatures Society of Illinois show always amaze, and the 48th annual event held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21, 2023, was no exception. Hundreds of beautifully painted figures depicting ancient history to the modern era, along with fantasy and sci-fi subjects, were joined by sharply finished vehicles and creative dioramas at the Chicago Marriott in Schaumburg, Illinois. There are many techniques for replicating damaged metal on scale models. But what if you want extreme damage, such as a tank hit with a rocket-propelled grenade?
