Most modelers have an arsenal of different glues on the workbench, including two-part epoxy and other adhesives, and putties that require mixing. And like most modelers, they're always scrambling to find a scrap piece of card stock or something to use as a mixing palette.
New Jersey modeler Dave Wood solved that problem by building this clever little gadget. You can build your own timesaving glue mixing dispenser with a roll of paper (adding-machine paper works great), a small piece of plywood, and some assorted hardware. Let's see how Dave did it:
"I started with a 7"x 6" piece of 3⁄4" plywood. I bent a piece of 1"x 1⁄8" aluminum flat stock into a U shape to match the roll of paper I had, then drilled holes in each end for a 1⁄4" steel rod. I welded a washer on one end of the rod and drilled a hole for a hairpin clip at the other end (two holes and hairpins would work just as well). I mounted the bracket on the plywood, then screwed a hacksaw blade to the board in front of the roll.
A small washer acts as a spacer, so the paper will slip underneath. Now whenever I need to mix epoxy, I mix it on my 'palette', then tear off the used paper and throw it away."
