Tips & Tech
Making Headlight Bezels

By Walter Frey

I got some aluminum tubing and a selection of headlight lenses. After finding tubing that fit in the model’s headlight opening, and lenses from the scrap box that fit into the tubing, I cut a short piece with a tubing cutter (you could also cut the tubing by rolling it under a hobby knife blade). Cutting the tubing this way rolls the end of the tubing and creates a small lip that holds the lens in place. Slide the lens into the
back of the tubing, and secure it with white glue.

As a finishing touch, add a chrome headlight cone from the scrap box or a piece of Bare-Metal foil behind the lenses. Slip the finished headlight into the opening in the model, and glue it in place.
