| In this issue: Report on the Day Somehow, in a summer of unsettled weather, we again had perfect weather for our classic car show. It wasn't only the weather that was perfect. With a couple of donations still to come in, the day has raised over £20,000. We're tantalisingly close to last year's figure and hoping that these donations push us to a new record. This year we are supporting four charities, Jigsaw School, Shooting Star CHASE, The Prostate Project and Rowleys 50+ Centre. If you had anything to do with the Classic Car Show, whether you brought you car along to be seen, had a autojumble of trade stand, bought raffle tickets or dropped some coins in the bucket on the way out, the Cranleigh Lions would like to thank you, and on behalf of the organisations and individuals we are able to assist. We couldn't help them without your support. We're very grateful to our sponsors, Dorking Service Centre, Hometrax Property Rentals, Jordans Car Storage, P&P Glass, PMA Motor Factors, Stennetts Plant & Transport Specialists and Restoration Manager, who provide financial support to the Lions before the show. We would also like to thank the many companies that donated some excellent and unique prizes for the raffle. The 21st got off to a busy start, with 1,700 vehicles registered and a promising weather forecast, we knew we were in for a hectic few hours when the gates opened at 9am. 50 clubs had registered, far more than in previous years, which caused a bit of head scratching when planning the showground layout and a bit of a panic on Saturday afternoon when some last minute rearranging was required. Still, we got everyone in, and more or less in the right place. Brooklands Trust came in strength this year and brought with them some extraordinary vehicles, including a 7 ton Routemaster bus, a 1914 Stanley Steamer, a project vehicle built in conjunction with the Surrey Youth Development Service and various NGs used by the Brooklands Rides Team. Brooklands had 2 trips around the arena and on the Stanley Steamer was actress Trudie Goodwin, a classic car enthusiast and a regular visitor to Brooklands. The Cranleigh Lions couldn't put a show of this size on without some help before and on the day. Every year we have invaluable help from families and friends of Cranleigh Lions members and from some of the charities we support on the day. A big thank you to you all. Next Year's Date Planning for next year's show starts in a few weeks and the provisional date is Sunday 19th August 2012 at the Cranleigh Showground. We'll send out a short newsletter when this date has been confirmed and online registration will be open for individuals and clubs in March 2012. Registration closed in early August this year, so it's important to register early to avoid disappointment. Again, we'll let you know when registration is open.
