Corvette engineer Jim Mero recorded a blisteringly fast lap time of 7:19.63 behind the wheel. Let's find out how that stacks up against the competition?

While that eclipses the previous Corvette-best lap set in 2008 by more than six seconds, it still falls over a second short of the 7:18 manufacturer-claimed time set down by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS in April of last year.

it does, however, finally give the ZR1 bragging rights over the Dodge Viper ACR, Porsche 911 GT2 RS (driven by Sport Auto), Nissan GT-R, Maserati MC12, Ferrari Enzo and the Pagani Zonda F Clubsport. Yup, it is still Zee Really fast One.

Also, watching Mero behind the wheel reminds me just how truly terrible I am on the track. If I had an iota of his skill level, I'd be one very happy camper.
