Brooklands Museum Display in the arena
with actress Trudie Goodwin

We're delighted to announce that Brooklands Museum are returning to the classic car show for a third year and will be bringing 12 interesting vehicles with them for display in the arena including a 7 ton Routemaster bus and a 1914 Stanley Steamer.

Brooklands will also be bringing actress Trudie Goodwin, most famous for her role as Sergeant June Ackland in the long running ITV series The Bill. Trudie has recently been touring in the stage version of Calendar Girls and on the 21st will take part in the arena display on board the Stanley Steamer

Top Prizes in the Raffle

If you've been to the classic car show before you will know all about our raffle. We've had some excellent prizes over the years and 2011 is no exception. Top of the list is a light aircraft flight for 2 people lasting about one hour and worth in excess of £150. We also have a £100 voucher from PMA Motor Factors, one of our sponsors and some mystery prizes from Mobil. We're not sure what Mobil have for us, last year we had a drop of oil from Lewis Hamilton's World F1 Championship winning car, a truly unique prize.

Tickets cost just £1 and can only be bought inside the showground, either at the public entrance gate or from one of our roving raffle ticket teams. The raffle will be drawn at 3.30pm and if you have a winning ticket and are not there to collect your prize, we will contact you to arrange delivery.

All of our prizes are donated so all of the money raised in the raffle goes to help our four nominated charities, plus other Cranleigh Lions projects. Full details of the other raffle prizes can be found at www.cranleighlions.org/classiccarshow

Have you Received Your Registration Ticket?

If you've registered online and not received your ticket by email (this year the email contains a link rather than the ticket as an attachment) or are having difficulty printing your ticket, please send an email to classicregistration@cranleighlions.org. Please include the registration number of your vehicle and we'll do our best to get the ticket to you.

We have been contacting people we don't think have seen their tickets, however some emails addresses we have are rejected, so if you haven't received details of your ticket, please get in touch.

How the Stig tried to kill me

By Ray Wert

How the Stig tried to kill me

How the Stig tried to kill me / The Stig It turns out The Stig doesn't like it when you tell him halfway through a hot lap of Top Gear's UK test track, "I think Schumi was faster through here." How do I know? Because I told him just that. The result? He tried to scare me to death. Watch and see for yourself.

The boys at Turn 10 Studios, the makers of the Forza Motorsport franchise, asked me if I wanted to come over to England for the announcement of the details of their tie-up with the BBC's Top Gear for Forza Motorsport 4. I wasn't interested.

How the Stig tried to kill me / The StigUntil they told me I'd be the only U.S. journalist with a chance to come over and become a not-so-much-a-star in a reasonably-priced car on Top Gear's test track and do a hot lap with the Stig in a Lamborghini Gallardo.

It took me less than the time it takes the Stig to say ".-. .- -.— / .— . .-. - / .. ... / .- / -.. —- ..- -.-. .... . / -... .- —." to agree.

I've never been as nervous as I've been when I took the wheel of the Kia Cee-apostrophe-d and pointed it out toward the track yesterday. Frankly, I was more nervous doing that than I was driving a Lotus Exige on the same track half an hour later. But more on that next week.

How the Stig tried to kill me / The StigFor now, check out the video above of the The Stig taking me out on a hot lap of the Top Gear test track — specifically watch him try to scare the crap out of me by making a bee-line for the tire wall after I lobbed a few insults his way.

Full Disclosure: As you know, we've built a very strong relationship with Turn 10 — you helped them pick out the majority of a car pack they called the "Jalopnik community car pack." We dubbed it, much to the chagrin of Microsoft marketers, "Forzalopnik."
